30 Days of Thankful: Oatmeal Carmelitas

This pinterest creation by Lulu the Baker has won my heart as favorite dessert this year. Marchelle discovered the recipe and has started making them every time we have a family gathering (or just plain craving). Chocolate, caramel, and crumbly oatmeal topping...they are eat-yourself-sick delicious. If you try them while they are warm and gooey and with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, you'll have to stop yourself at one, they are so rich.  Or, you can wait until the caramel sets up, and you'll find yourself coming back to the pan for another, and another...and another. A total winner either way.

Wonder if I have some caramels in the cupboard...

"The Savior lamented ingratitude. When only one of the ten cleansed lepers returned to give thanks, Jesus asked, 'But where are the nine?' (Luke 17:17)

"Just as a thankful heart compelled the leper to express his gratitude to the Lord, gratitude turns our own hearts toward the Savior for all he has done for us. We grow when we acknowledge our dependence on him. We develop Christlike characteristics, such as humility and unselfishness, to offset tendencies to be prideful, selfish, and unforgiving. By following the admonition to 'thank the Lord thy God in all things,' we become aware of the ways that Heavenly Father influences us."

I love the idea that as we acknowledge our dependence on God, we become aware of what He's doing for us.

Great post, Leigh!
