Birthday Boy

Chuck10

Shayne has been planning a party at Chuck E. Cheese for over a year now, ever since his first and only visit there for a pre-school buddy's party. I've been ignoring the plans just as long, hoping they would pass. Chuck E. Cheese? Not really my thing. Last year I managed to get out of it by offering up the Clone Wars movie instead. This year I had nothing, and with the added craziness of everything going on with the move, any party not at my house sounded pretty darn good. So Chuck E., here we come!

Gracie was SO excited for the party. She'd also only been once before for a friend's birthday and has been just itching to go back. She asked me no fewer than fifty times in the days leading up to the party if I would please promise to watch her on this rocket ride:

Wheee!

Even the babes and the big kids got in on the action.

Of course, my kids can't have a birthday without a theme, but apparently neither "giant mouse" nor "arcade games" qualify as such. So we had a Chuck E. Cheese "bird" party, which go together smashingly, don'tcha know?

(The bird balloons were a big hit, Mandy! Thanks! Shayne told me that night before bed that his favorite part of the day was coming out to breakfast and seeing the peacock as the table centerpiece.)

This picture cracks me up. It reads a little bit like,"I'm not so sure about this party idea anymore...large, creepy mouse!!"

Another one that makes me laugh. "Wait, what?! What did you say is behind me?"

Chuck9

Seven candles!

A pair of real binoculars for the bird brain were a big hit.

Three and a half hours after we arrived (have a party on a weekday...we had the whole place to ourselves!), we left the giant mouse house totally worn out and with plenty of plastic junk "prizes" in our pockets. But you know what? It was really nice not to have to clean up after a party. Bet we'll be back in January. No way Gracie is going to let us get out of having her own party with Chuck E!
